Getting a medical marijuana card in Illinois involves the following steps:

Obtain a recommendation from a qualified physician: Patients must have a qualifying condition, such as chronic pain, epilepsy, or multiple sclerosis, and receive a written recommendation from a licensed physician.

Register with the Illinois Medical Cannabis Pilot Program: Patients must complete an online application and provide a government-issued ID and proof of residency.

Pay the application fee: The fee for a medical cannabis card in Illinois is $100 for residents and $250 for non-residents.

Wait for approval: The Illinois Department of Public Health typically takes up to 30 days to process applications and issue medical cannabis cards.

Purchase medical cannabis: Once a card is issued, patients may purchase medical cannabis products from licensed dispensaries along with grow 5 plants at home.
